This book is listed as book 2, but is actually the third in the series and if read in order the events fall into place much easier. Tourists discover 9 blocks of cocaine and a metal box of plutonium floating in the Gulf Stream. An argument divides them on what to do with it and the argument will change their lives forever. Mac Travis gets dragged into the situation when he is pulled in to identify the plutonium with the Somali terrorists close on his heels. Actually this book takes place six months following the previous book and the terrorists that were believed dead in the previous book have survived the explosion and are now out to kill the President with a bomb powerful enough to destroy a large section of the Keys during the President's South Florida visit. Great read, and I am looking forward to reading the next in the series soon.
I read Florida mystery novels. RW White - Carl Hiaasen - Edna Buchanan- Laurence Shames - Michael Haskins- Benjamin Wallace- James Patterson - Michael Reisig - HT Griffin - Mike Petit - James Hall - Les Standiford - Wayne Gales - Lee Sweetapple - Bill Myers - Keith Thompson - and John McDonald . . .to just name a few . Iapologize to those of you others that I have left out . If it's based in Key West -Miami - or Long Boat Key , or anywhere else in South Florida , I'VE READ IT .Thorn - Doc Ford - Skink -and Bert's little dog Don Giovanni are all characters that I have come to love .This Becker book and the latest that I finished yesterday ( Bonefish Blues ) are among the most enjoyable that I have read .I will look forward to reading more from this author !!!!!GREAT READ !
I have enjoyed both "Wood's books" I find them to be light reading with adventure wrapped into a busy plot. Becker seems quit well informed about the Keys and while the "drama" is there it does make one want to visit the Keys. The life there appears to be a lot less hectic and away from the world. That being said the mystery also is fun, a lot like the Dirk Pitt books without the endless pages of detail that I have found boring. The "Numa" and "Game of Thrones" series seem to be paid by the number of pages while Becker's books just want to tell a story and I like that.Bob H
just finished Steve Becker's woods wall 3 2 in the series and enjoyed the book so much i finished it in one sitting. Becker is a great Author creating some unusual characters and situations. Truly a 5 star effort
Three amateur fishermen pick up some flotsam during a fishing trip. The contents contain drugs and a suspicious package.Their attempt to negotiate a return of the drugs goes horrible wrong. The drug smugglers want the drugs back and terrorists want the bomb material. The fishermen and their friends try to stay one step ahead of the bad guys to save their lives. Plenty of action with a few dead bodies thrown in and a corrupt lawyer gets his just deserts.
Good story but the continual misuse of words was quite distracting. Your vs. you're, roll vs. role, etc. (2 more words required) well, there are four more.
Interesting but falls apart with too much detail when everything comes together. I know it's fiction, but there could,be a realistic grounding rather than hanging on to supermen-like characters
The Mac Travis adventures by Steven Becker are good, solid reading. I've read three of the books and enjoyed each. I plan on obtains the next when it is available. I read a couple or three books a week and am relatively picky about my reading choices. Becker has come through for me as enjoyable and memorable. Give his work some attention and I am sure you will enjoy it, also.
